SUSAN BONES
Susan Bones: The Untold Story of A Horse Girl Who Went to Hogwarts began as a joke. Zack had somehow gone his entire life without seeing a single Harry Potter film, and when he finally watched one, he became fixated on a random red-haired girl in the background. That tiny moment spiraled into, “Wait… what is her story?” and suddenly we were writing a whole musical about her.
What started as parody quickly became something much more personal. We wanted to create a world that felt joyful, ridiculous, and unapologetically inclusive – a space that reflects the kind of magic we believe in. The original wizarding universe may have shaped our childhoods, but this show is our response to the present moment. It’s our way of reclaiming fantasy and building something that feels loving, affirming, and entirely our own.
“Susann Bones” is written and directed by Zack Colonna and Jason Avezzano, with original music by Ben Kapilow (Assistant Professor/Music Director for the BFA/BA Programs in Musical Theatre at SUNY Cortland), and musical direction by Eric Lewis-Baker
The cast features Zack Colonna (The Neighborhood, Kenan), Mimi von Schack (Dropout, JFL New Faces), Devon Drew (The Groundlings, The Brothers Sun), Evan Mills (JFL New Faces, Second City), Jeff Murdoch (The Bear, Shameless), Jason Avezzano, Sarafina Ludlow (Second City), Jemima Lauriston (A Little Late with Lily Singh), among others.
